What is GEPCO and which areas does it supply?

GEPCO (Gujranwala Electric Power Company) supplies electricity to the industrial heartland of Punjab, including Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat, home to a dense network of manufacturing and export-oriented businesses alongside millions of residential consumers.

GEPCO supplies Pakistan's export-manufacturing belt: Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Hafizabad and Narowal. Sialkot alone accounts for a large share of the country's surgical-instrument and sports-goods exports, and Gujrat and Gujranwala carry dense clusters of light engineering, fans, ceramics and food processing.

That industrial profile shapes the network. A high proportion of GEPCO's load is small and medium industrial rather than purely domestic, which means demand is steadier through the day than in a residential-dominated territory, and interruptions carry a direct commercial cost for exporters working to shipping deadlines.

On the regulator's own measures GEPCO runs one of the tightest operations in the country — losses close to the level allowed in its tariff, and full recovery of what it bills. For consumers that matters in a practical way: a company that collects reliably has less need to lean on estimated readings or detection billing to close a revenue gap.

Which number you need

GEPCO identifies your connection by one number only: the 14-digit reference number printed at the top of the bill. There is no shorter customer or consumer ID that will work in its place — that facility exists at LESCO alone — so the printed reference number is the one to keep.

GEPCO references begin with 06, 07, 08. Those leading digits are the billing batch, and they are what lets this site work out the company from the number alone, with no dropdown to choose from.

GEPCO's website has its own bill page, but it is a thin wrapper: it checks that the number is 14 digits and then hands you to the shared PITC system, which is where the bill actually comes from. Going there directly makes no difference to what you see.

GEPCO performance in FY 2024-25

NEPRA publishes an annual assessment of every distribution company. These are GEPCO's reported figures, set against the level allowed in its tariff and the national picture.

T&D losses10.60%8.90%17.55%
Revenue recovery101.50%100%96.60%

Recovery above 100% reflects payments received against earlier arrears on top of the year's own billing, not overcharging. Sector-wide, distribution companies lost Rs 132 billion in FY 2024-25.

GEPCO runs one of the tightest networks in the country: losses close to the allowed level and full recovery of what it bills. That matters for consumers because a company that collects reliably has less incentive to lean on estimated readings and detection bills to close a revenue gap.

Report a meter or billing problem

Complaints for GEPCO — and every other PITC company — are filed through one shared system, CCMS. You can find your account by reference number, contact number or CNIC.

The form asks for your name, mobile in 923xxxxxxxxx format, CNIC, address and a nearby landmark, plus the nature and type of the complaint. Keep the complaint number it gives you — every later stage of escalation depends on it.

Do not pay scammers. No distribution company asks for payment over the phone, for an OTP, or for money into a personal account. A call demanding immediate payment to avoid disconnection is the most common form of this fraud. Always pay through a bank, ATM or authorised wallet.

How do I pay a GEPCO bill?

A GEPCO bill can be paid at a bank, an ATM, JazzCash, Easypaisa or any authorised payment counter, using the same reference number.

Common questions about GEPCO bills

How do I check my GEPCO bill online?

Enter the Reference Number printed on any previous GEPCO bill in the box above. BillHub recognises it as GEPCO's and opens the real bill from PITC's official system. No account or registration is needed.

Which areas does GEPCO supply?

GEPCO covers Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Narowal, and is headquartered in Gujranwala. Every distribution company holds an exclusive NEPRA licence for its own territory, so which one supplies you is decided by your address — there is no competing supplier to switch to.

Can I get net metering with GEPCO?

Yes — GEPCO processes applications, inspects the installation and fits the meter. Since February 2026 the arrangement is net billing rather than net metering, so work out payback on the current basis rather than on older figures. Uptake has been strongest among Sialkot and Gujranwala's export units, whose factory roofs offer large uninterrupted spans and whose daytime load matches solar generation closely.

Where is the GEPCO Reference Number printed?

Near the top of the paper bill, usually beside your name and address. Enter it in full, with no spaces or dashes. If you no longer have a paper bill, your local GEPCO sub-division office can look it up from your address and CNIC.

How do I file a billing complaint against GEPCO?

Call 118 or visit your GEPCO sub-division office, and take a complaint number — every later stage will ask for it. The escalation route beyond that is set out above.

Does GEPCO generate its own electricity?

No — GEPCO distributes only, over its own network across Gujranwala and the surrounding districts. Generation is bought centrally, and the tariff is NEPRA's rather than GEPCO's.
