Why Pakistan's gas network is split in two
Pakistan's natural gas industry began with the 1952 discovery of the Sui gas field in Balochistan, among the largest in the world at the time. Two companies grew out of it: SSGC, formed in 1954 to pipe gas from the field toward Karachi and the south, and SNGPL, formed in 1963 specifically to carry gas north into Punjab and what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — regions with almost no reserves of their own but the bulk of the country's population and industry.
That division still holds. Which company supplies you is determined by your province rather than by choice, exactly as it is with electricity.
Both portals require a CAPTCHA

How gas slabs and charges work
Gas is billed in slabs at rates set by OGRA, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, rather than by the gas company itself. Consumption is metered in cubic metres and converted to MMBTU on the bill.
The part that catches most households out is that crossing a slab threshold can move a large share of your consumption to the higher rate, so a small rise in usage produces a disproportionate jump in the bill. This is the main reason winter gas bills can multiply rather than merely increase. GST on gas is 18%, and a fixed monthly charge is applied separately from consumption.
Protected consumer status
Lower-consumption domestic users fall into separate, cheaper slabs. If your monthly usage is consistently low, check which slab category is printed on your bill — being recorded in the wrong one is worth disputing.
Why RLNG appears on your bill
Pakistan's domestic gas reserves are in long-term decline, so both companies now blend imported LNG — re-gasified as RLNG — into their networks. Imported gas costs considerably more than domestically produced gas, and is often shown as a separate line on the bill.
The consequence is not only financial. When domestic demand peaks in winter, government load-management policy prioritises households over industry and CNG stations, which is why pressure still falls during morning and evening hours between December and February even though supply is technically available.

Report a meter or billing problem
Complaints for your distribution company — and every other PITC company — are filed through one shared system, CCMS. You can find your account by reference number, contact number or CNIC.
The form asks for your name, mobile in 923xxxxxxxxx format, CNIC, address and a nearby landmark, plus the nature and type of the complaint. Keep the complaint number it gives you — every later stage of escalation depends on it.
Do not pay scammers. No distribution company asks for payment over the phone, for an OTP, or for money into a personal account. A call demanding immediate payment to avoid disconnection is the most common form of this fraud. Always pay through a bank, ATM or authorised wallet.
