What is PESCO and which areas does it supply?
PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) covers most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, distributing electricity across Peshawar, Mardan, Swat and the wider province, an area combining dense urban demand with challenging mountainous terrain.
PESCO covers most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan among others — a territory that runs from dense city networks to mountain valleys where a single feeder may travel a long distance to reach a small number of consumers.
That geography makes the network expensive to maintain and hard to police. Long rural feeders in difficult terrain are both technically lossy and difficult to protect against unmetered connections, and severe weather in the northern valleys damages lines that then take longer to reach and repair.
The result is the sector's most serious loss position outside Sindh and Balochistan: PESCO fails to bill for more than a third of the electricity entering its network, far beyond the level its tariff allows. This is the direct backdrop to prolonged load management on high-loss feeders, because supply hours are tied to how much of a feeder's power is actually paid for. PESCO was, however, among the companies meeting NEPRA's target for connecting new consumers on time.
Which number you need
PESCO identifies your connection by one number only: the 14-digit reference number printed at the top of the bill. There is no shorter customer or consumer ID that will work in its place — that facility exists at LESCO alone — so the printed reference number is the one to keep.
PESCO references begin with 14, 15, 16. Those leading digits are the billing batch, and they are what lets this site work out the company from the number alone, with no dropdown to choose from.
PESCO bills through the shared system operated by PITC, the government's IT company, which is the same platform behind most of the other distribution companies. That shared infrastructure is why one number format and one lookup reach them all.

Recovery above 100% reflects payments received against earlier arrears on top of the year's own billing, not overcharging. Sector-wide, distribution companies lost Rs 132 billion in FY 2024-25.
PESCO is one of the sector's problem cases: it loses more than a third of the electricity it receives before it can be billed, nearly eighteen percentage points beyond what the tariff allows, and that gap feeds directly into national circular debt. For consumers this is the backdrop to prolonged load management on high-loss feeders, since supply hours are tied to how much of a feeder's power is actually paid for.
Report a meter or billing problem
Complaints for PESCO — and every other PITC company — are filed through one shared system, CCMS. You can find your account by reference number, contact number or CNIC.
The form asks for your name, mobile in 923xxxxxxxxx format, CNIC, address and a nearby landmark, plus the nature and type of the complaint. Keep the complaint number it gives you — every later stage of escalation depends on it.
Do not pay scammers. No distribution company asks for payment over the phone, for an OTP, or for money into a personal account. A call demanding immediate payment to avoid disconnection is the most common form of this fraud. Always pay through a bank, ATM or authorised wallet.

Why is load-shedding heavier in PESCO's area?

Feeders with high losses and weak recovery are cut back hardest, which is why two neighbourhoods in the same city can be on very different schedules. In PESCO's case the problem is compounded by geography: long feeders through mountain valleys are both technically lossy and hard to protect against unmetered connections.

Does PESCO generate its own electricity?
No — PESCO distributes only, over its own network across Peshawar and the surrounding districts. Generation is bought centrally, and the tariff is NEPRA's rather than PESCO's.
