What is LESCO and which areas does it supply?
LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) is one of Pakistan's largest electricity distribution companies, serving over 5 million consumers across Lahore and four neighbouring districts. It manages one of the highest-density urban grids in the country, supplying power to residential, commercial and industrial connections throughout Punjab's provincial capital.
LESCO carries the densest urban load of any distribution company in Pakistan. Its network covers Lahore itself along with Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Okara, serving roughly seven million consumers through eight operational circles and around forty-one divisions — a consumer base larger than several DISCOs combined.
Lahore's mix is unusual: a very large domestic base in a city that has grown outward fast, a dense commercial core, and industrial estates on the city's edges, all on infrastructure that in the older parts of the city was laid for a far smaller population. That combination is why LESCO consistently sees heavy summer peak demand and why feeder-level upgrades in central Lahore are disruptive to carry out.
LESCO is also one of the two companies the federal government has named in its distribution-sector privatisation work, and a technical committee has been examining whether it should be split into smaller units before any sale — a question that has been raised repeatedly given the size of its territory.
Which number you need
LESCO is the only electricity company in Pakistan that will find your bill from either of two different numbers. Its own portal offers two separate forms — one taking the reference number printed on the bill, the other taking a shorter Customer ID — and both resolve to the same account.

The first three groups are a printed reference number split the way LESCO's own form asks for it; the fourth is the Customer ID for the same connection, and either one finds the bill. The final digits are masked because a reference number needs no password — anyone holding a complete one can open that bill.
The two are interchangeable: submit either and the system returns both. In practice the Customer ID is the number LESCO staff quote on the phone because it is short enough to remember, while the 14-digit reference number is what appears on the printed bill and what every bank, wallet and payment counter expects.

The same structure underlies the other companies' numbers, which is why the first two digits are enough to work out which company a reference belongs to. Recovery above 100% reflects payments received against earlier arrears on top of the year's own billing, not overcharging. Sector-wide, distribution companies lost Rs 132 billion in FY 2024-25.
LESCO collects slightly more than it bills each year, because payments against old arrears land on top of current billing. Its losses sit above the level NEPRA allows in the tariff but well inside the national picture — the gap costs the system money, but it is a few percentage points rather than the structural shortfall seen further south. LESCO has also been named, alongside MEPCO, in the federal government's privatisation work, which has included examining whether the company should be split before any sale.
Report a meter or billing problem
Complaints for LESCO — and every other PITC company — are filed through one shared system, CCMS. You can find your account by reference number, contact number or CNIC.
The form asks for your name, mobile in 923xxxxxxxxx format, CNIC, address and a nearby landmark, plus the nature and type of the complaint. Keep the complaint number it gives you — every later stage of escalation depends on it.
Do not pay scammers. No distribution company asks for payment over the phone, for an OTP, or for money into a personal account. A call demanding immediate payment to avoid disconnection is the most common form of this fraud. Always pay through a bank, ATM or authorised wallet.
