What is MEPCO and which areas does it supply?
MEPCO (Multan Electric Power Company) is geographically the largest DISCO in Pakistan, covering southern Punjab from Multan to the Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, an area dominated by agriculture and tube-well electricity demand.
MEPCO covers the largest territory of any distribution company in Pakistan — thirteen districts of southern Punjab running from Multan through Bahawalpur, Vehari and Muzaffargarh to Dera Ghazi Khan. The distances involved mean its network has far more line per consumer than the compact urban companies.
Its load is dominated by agriculture. Tube-well demand for irrigation makes consumption strongly seasonal and heavily rural, and rural feeders are the hardest part of any network to run efficiently: long runs, dispersed consumers, and meters that are expensive to read and to police.
Given that profile, MEPCO's results are better than its size would predict — losses only moderately above the allowed level, and recovery above what it bills. It is the second company, with LESCO, named in the government's privatisation work, where its geographic spread has been part of the argument for splitting it before any sale.
Which number you need
MEPCO identifies your connection by one number only: the 14-digit reference number printed at the top of the bill. There is no shorter customer or consumer ID that will work in its place — that facility exists at LESCO alone — so the printed reference number is the one to keep.
MEPCO references begin with 25, 26, 27, 28, 29. Those leading digits are the billing batch, and they are what lets this site work out the company from the number alone, with no dropdown to choose from.
MEPCO bills through the shared system operated by PITC, the government's IT company, which is the same platform behind most of the other distribution companies. That shared infrastructure is why one number format and one lookup reach them all.

Recovery above 100% reflects payments received against earlier arrears on top of the year's own billing, not overcharging. Sector-wide, distribution companies lost Rs 132 billion in FY 2024-25.
MEPCO covers the largest service territory of any distribution company and still recovers more than it bills, with losses only moderately above the allowed level — a better result than its size and heavy rural tube-well load would suggest. It has been named alongside LESCO in the government's privatisation work.

The form asks for your name, mobile in 923xxxxxxxxx format, CNIC, address and a nearby landmark, plus the nature and type of the complaint. Keep the complaint number it gives you — every later stage of escalation depends on it.
Do not pay scammers. No distribution company asks for payment over the phone, for an OTP, or for money into a personal account. A call demanding immediate payment to avoid disconnection is the most common form of this fraud. Always pay through a bank, ATM or authorised wallet.

Where is the MEPCO Reference Number printed?

How do I file a billing complaint against MEPCO?

Does MEPCO generate its own electricity?
No — MEPCO distributes only, over its own network across Multan and the surrounding districts. Generation is bought centrally, and the tariff is NEPRA's rather than MEPCO's.
