A protected consumer using 0.9 hm³ pays about Rs 1,882; a non-protected consumer using just 1 hm³ pays about Rs 5,829. Protected status is decided by your November–February average, so winter use sets your price for the whole year.
Frequently asked questions
How is a SSGC bill calculated?
hm³ × GCV ÷ 281.7358 gives MMBTU; MMBTU is multiplied by the slab rate, then the fixed charge, Rs 40 meter rent and 18% GST are added.
Where is the GCV on my bill?
In the meter-reading section of your gas bill. If you cannot find it, 950 is a typical value.
Why is my real bill different?
Arrears, late payment surcharge and any adjustments are not in the estimate. Gas charges, fixed charge and GST should match.
